Inarritu's 'Birdman' w/Michael Keaton & Naomi Watts Set to Open Venice, Close New York Film Festivals

Get ready for the fall premiere of Birdman. Fox Searchlight has confirmed and announced that Alejandro Gonzalez Inarritu's Birdman will be the Closing Night film at the upcoming 52nd New York Film Festival, coming up from September 26th to October 12th.

It was already announced a few weeks ago as the opening night film of the Venice Film Festival, kicking off on August 27th coming up very soon.
This means Birdman is likely going to play at a number of big prestige festivals, these two include and perhaps Telluride/Toronto, before it goes on to become a smash Broadway success in cinemas.

The film tells the story of an actor (Michael Keaton), famous for portraying an iconic superhero, as he struggles to mount a Broadway play. In the days leading up to opening night, he battles his ego and attempts to recover his family, his career, and himself. Also starring Zach Galifianakis, Edward Norton, Andrea Riseborough, Amy Ryan, Emma Stone, and Naomi Watts. Fox Searchlight will release the film limited on October 17th.
